Hi, I’m Cătălin, the creator of Savory Planet.
I’ve always been drawn to both cooking and the online world, learning things hands-on and figuring them out through real experience rather than theory. Life didn’t follow a straight or predictable path for me, but curiosity, adaptability, and the need to build something meaningful have always been there.
I was born in Romania and currently live in Italy — two places that naturally shape the way I cook, the ingredients I use, and the flavors I’m drawn to.
Savory Planet was created as a place for real cooking — the kind that happens in everyday kitchens, with real ingredients, real time constraints, and no pressure to be perfect. It’s not about sophistication or culinary trends, but about food that makes sense, recipes that work, and the freedom to experiment without feeling overwhelmed.
The Story Behind Savory Planet
At a certain point in my life, I had to step into work earlier than planned due to family responsibilities and changing circumstances. Education was never something I dismissed — life simply required different priorities at the time. Like many people, I learned to adapt first and figure things out along the way.
Later on, I moved to Spain and worked in a restaurant environment, helping wherever it was needed — from kitchen prep to bar work. It wasn’t about titles or specialization. It was about learning fast, staying practical, and understanding how real kitchens operate under pressure.
That hands-on experience shaped the way I cook today: focusing on practicality, flexibility, and food that actually works in real-life situations.
How I Cook — and Why This Site Exists
At home, I’m the one who cooks. I enjoy following a recipe, but it almost never stays exactly the same from start to finish. Something is always adjusted — a little more here, a little less there — depending on taste, ingredients, or instinct.
I’m especially drawn to Asian-inspired dishes and bold flavors, particularly spicy food, even if I’m usually the only one in the family who enjoys the heat. Like most home cooks, I balance what I enjoy cooking with what actually works for everyday life.
Savory Planet is not a blog for sophisticated or restaurant-style recipes. It’s a place for approachable food — recipes that are flexible, realistic, and meant to be adapted. If something can be simplified without losing flavor, it probably should be.
What You’ll Find on Savory Planet
Every recipe on Savory Planet is built with clarity in mind:
- clear, logical steps
- realistic cooking times
- practical techniques
- explanations that focus on why something is done, not just what to do
The goal isn’t to impress — it’s to help. Cooking shouldn’t feel intimidating or exclusive. It should feel doable, even on busy days and even when things aren’t perfect.
Savory Planet doesn’t tell you how you must cook. It gives you a solid starting point and encourages you to experiment in your own kitchen.
A Place for Inspiration, Not Pressure
This site exists as a source of inspiration, not expectation. There are no unrealistic standards here, no need for professional tools, and no assumption that cooking has to look a certain way to be “right.”
Savory Planet is for anyone who enjoys learning by doing, experimenting without pressure, and building confidence over time — one recipe at a time.
If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.
